Frequently Asked Questions

What is 7Basic? 7Basic is an open-source project designed to create a compiler based on the 7Basic language. The compiler is designed to create native 32 bit Windows executable files.

Why start another language based on BASIC? You can count on one hand the number of BASIC compilers that convert source code into native executable files and even fewer of those are free or open source. Of the compilers that do generate native executable files, regardless of language, few are intended for both beginners and advanced users. The 7Basic language is designed for everyone.

What is the 7Basic language like? The 7Basic language is very easy to learn yet very powerful. For those familiar with other programming languages, 7Basic includes features you would expect from a complete language such as classes, functions, pointers, and include files.

How can I contribute to 7Basic? We are always looking for new people to help out with this project. Some of the areas we need people for include programming, testing, and documentation writing. If you would like to help out, please visit our sign up page.
